Wednesday, April 20, 2022
Vivian Nun Halloran, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion in the College of Arts & Sciences, Professor of English and long-time LAMP affiliate, will be Acting Director of LAMP during the 2022-2023 school year while Professor Spang is away on a fellowship. We are excited to have Dr. Halloran around LAMP House and look forward to getting to know her better! To start the process, we have asked her a few fun questions. Thank you, Dr. Halloran, for all that you do for LAMP!
Coffee or tea to start the day? Coffee
Favorite television show? Any international detective show that I can stream
Least favorite food? Anything with ketchup on it!
Favorite restaurant in Bloomington? Bangkok Thai
Favorite thing to do in Bloomington? Take my dog Stellan for walks on campus
What would your debut album be titled, and what genre would it be? My debut album genre would be alternative rock. The title would be: Thick Glasses & Food Allergies
What do you enjoy about working with MHO students in particular? I love working with MHO students because they have such varied interests and, as a group, they are excited at the prospect of going out and making a difference in the world. I think our curriculum fosters empathetic understanding, critical thinking, and organization in ways that empower students to pursue their goals. I love how engaged students in my classes have been!
Which MHO course has been your favorite to teach and why? Right now, it’s a tie between M301 and M401 because they build on each other. Students need to have strong research skills (in Evidence & Analysis) before being able to work in a team and carry out a project addressing one part of a complex issue.
